Frassinello Monferrato

The village and its local masters

Frassinello Monferrato: a village to be discovered, experienced and told

Although Frassinello Monferrato has fewer than 500 inhabitants, it boasts two castles: one dominates the town, while the other overlooks the valley. The gentle "sea of hills", covered in woods and vineyards as far as the eye can see, offers visitors a wonderful experience. The roads wind harmoniously through the gently undulating landscape. The inhabitants' warm hospitality provides an insight into local culture.

The master of wood

Bruno Savio has lived in Frassinello Monferrato for decades, carving wood sculptures. He has cultivated his desire to work in this field ever since he was a child, thanks to his uncle's hobby carpentry shop. Through his creations, he has helped to establish an identity for the local area, one that is rooted in centuries-old local knowledge yet also embraces modernity.

There is a charming hypothesis with a legendary flavour that links the place name to the presence of the Saracens in the area and their alleged treasure, which was never found.

Here, history, art, architecture, traditions and craftsmanship coexist in an extraordinary landscape, waiting to be explored.

The village is also an ideal destination for nature lovers and those who want to take picturesque photos of the endless vineyards that climb and descend, lighting up at sunset.

In Frassinello Monferrato and the surrounding area, you can still see evidence of fossil fragments dating back to a time when these moors were a seabed.

Anna's workshop

The village of Frassinello Monferrato is home to Anna Aletto's workshop. Anna is an artisan ceramist who inherited her passion from her artistic uncles. Today, Anna runs a workshop called Terratorio dedicated to the village children. The children make tiles and reproduce the main features of the village on them. These tiles are then used to decorate the school wall. Images of hills, grapes and fossils are recurrent in both Anna's work and the children's. Anna's dream is to create a multifunctional space in which to experiment with different artistic techniques and give the village a place to foster a sense of community through art.
