Beauty in La Morra: between the vineyards and art

"Nature is the true home of the soul” wrote Emily Dickinson, and this truth can be felt in every corner of La Morra.

Perched on the Langhe hills, this village boasts a breathtaking view: rows of vineyards arranged like musical scores dance with the hills in a play of light and shadow.

From here, the Belvedere offers a spectacular sight that seems to have been stolen from a painting.

The Cedar of Lebanon

The Cedar of La Morra is the symbol of the eternal love that two young people from the area, Costanzo Falletti from Rodello and Eulalia Della Chiesa from Cervignasco, promised each other when they decided to get married. As a gesture of good luck, they chose to plant a sturdy evergreen Cedar of Lebanon on a privately owned hillside. The cedar is protected to ensure its preservation, but it can be seen by following path no. 7 in La Morra. It is a symbol of the Langhe and a silent witness to the redemption of these hills.

La Morra's old town, with its narrow streets and stone houses, evokes a bygone era when life moved at a slower pace, in harmony with the rhythms of the land.

The old churches and cosy squares provide a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere.

One of the emblems of La Morra is the Cappella del Barolo, also known as the Brunate Chapel. Transformed into a work of art by Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett, this small, brightly coloured church creates a surreal vision that enchants, celebrating the eternal dialogue between man and nature through contemporary art.

And then there is wine, the true soul of La Morra, which you can enjoy in delicious wine shops but especially at the Municipal Cellar, a veritable temple of taste.

The Village and the Municipal Cellar

Famous for its panoramic position, La Morra is a maze of streets that converge at the Belvedere in Piazza Castello. Here, where the castle once stood, you can still see the Bell Tower and some ruins. The restored tower is open to visitors and often hosts temporary exhibitions. The Falletti family had a palace here, but no traces of it remain. In its place, you can visit the Cantina Comunale. Here, you can find all 86 local labels, mainly Nebbiolo grapes. Don't miss this pearl of the Langhe!
