Vignale Monferrato, a village in the Monferrato Alessandrino area, is home to a traditional sphaeristerium used for the so called "tamburello a muro" ball game. This features grandstands, a clay floor and the main feature: the wall. Similar to tennis, it is played on a larger court with a harder ball and teams of five. The beauty of tamburello is that it is played in the village square, where people gather to watch.
